Totti Calls For Calcio Changes
Roma captain Francesco Totti has called on the Calcio authorities to implement a number of changes to improve the game.
Er Pupone told the Corriere dello Sport that the number of substitutes during matches should be increased from its present number of three.
He is also of the opinion that drugs tests should not take place at the end of matches, but instead take the form of random spot checks during the week.
Totti caused controversy last season when he skipped a drugs test after a game in order to witness the birth of his child at hospital. The 31-year-old explained the situation to the relevant authorities and was eventually pardoned.
"Greetings to the whole world of football, with the hope that things will change,” said Totti.
“We want to motivate young people and we can make a breakthrough in this environment, we need new ideas to restore our public image.
"I keep repeating that it is futile to continue to play games at night in winter, when we could take to the field at 1:00pm as in England."
Totti was back in scoring form at the weekend, hitting both of Roma’s goals in the 2-0 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico.
